DENTAL PROCEDURES

Here’s what we can do for you, and your dental health.

Going to the dentist can seem scary because people don’t really understand what’s going on. Here, we take the time to explain the issues, options, and what to expect, in clear language, with no pressure.

Haven’t been here before? Find out what you need to know. Also check out how we can help keep disease away, and help improve your smile.

FOR TOOTH PAIN

Toothache Remedies

Is it a cavity, a cracked tooth, or something deeper? Can the tooth be saved? Sit down for an exam so we can figure out what’s going on, and do something for the pain. Then we’ll discuss the issues, the options, and a permanent fix that’ll get you back to normal as quickly as possible.

FOR HOLES AND CRACKS IN TEETH

Filling Cavities

Almost everyone gets tooth decay that creates tiny holes in the hard surfaces of our teeth. Gone untreated, cavities can grow into bigger problems. At Georgetown Comprehensive Dental Care, we use mercury-free cavity fillings for your safety, and aesthetic tooth-colored fillings that won’t show.

FOR ACCIDENTS

Emergency Care

If an impact to your mouth results in a chipped, broken, loose or knocked-out tooth, not to worry. We’re here to help, with the simplest solution for a permanent fix. If there’s pain or swelling from an accident or any other cause, we’ll try to get you in the chair as soon as possible.

FOR MISSING/EXTRACTED TEETH

Implants

Implants are artificial teeth, implanted in the gum, to replace missing or removed teeth. In preparation for implants, we can extract teeth that are too far gone to save. If bone needs to be grafted as a foundation for the implant, we can take care of that too. Do you have an implant that needs to be restored? Come see us.

FOR RECEDING GUMS

Bonding

When gums have receded from the teeth over time, the tooth’s roots become vulnerable to bacteria, plaque, and further problems. With bonding, a tooth-colored resin is applied as a layer of protection. It also makes your teeth appear smooth and even, and helps cover any visible imperfections.

FOR NIGHT TEETH GRINDING

Mouth Guards

Everyone feels stress, and grinding your teeth during sleep is not uncommon. Get a custom-fit occlusal guard to cover your teeth at night to protect them from grinding that wears down the enamel. We can also make adjustments for an even ‘bite’, and refer specialists who can diagnose any underlying issues.

FOR MORE SERIOUS ISSUES

Root Canals

We can do root canals to save a badly damaged tooth, but with our conservative approach here, we typically consider other less-invasive procedures first. If a previous root canal didn’t heal properly, or becomes painful or diseased, we’ll examine and retreat it if needed, including resealing the canals.

FOR MORE SERIOUS ISSUES

Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a durable cap that covers, and saves, a damaged tooth. Fixed or removable bridges replace one or more missing teeth, held in place by adjoining teeth or implants. Here, we use 3-D imaging to get the right fit for chewing, and use innovative materials to match the color of your other teeth so no one can tell.

FOR MORE SERIOUS ISSUES

Dental Surgery

We’re experts at many surgical procedures that many other dental practices call on surgical specialists for. This includes complex tooth extractions when there’s trouble below the gum, removing excess bone through alvioplasty or crown lengthening, and removing excess gum tissue through gingevectomy.

FOR TEETH REPLACEMENT

Dentures

Dentures are replacements for missing or extracted teeth, and are firmly attached to adjacent teeth or implants. Depending on your needs, a full set of ‘new’ teeth can be fabricated, or just a partial set. And they can be either fixed in place, or removable. Come by to discuss which options are best for you.

FOR SENIORS

Geriatric Dentistry

Our extra-gentle care for seniors includes dentures, and restoration of old or problematic dental work. Many of our older patients still want to look their best with our Cosmetic Dentistry options. We can accommodate walkers and wheelchairs, and we’re glad to consult with doctors of those with health conditions.

FOR KIDS

Children’s Dentistry

For positive early experiences in the dental chair, we plan super-easy initial visits for children. We also safely apply sealants to protect the biting surface of young teeth from much of the bacteria that leads to decay and cavities. For crowded or crooked teeth, we can use Invisalign®, or work with an orthodontist.

FOR ATHLETES

Sports Dentistry

For athletic competitors, we create comfortable custom mouthguards to protect your teeth during contact sports. If things get too rough on the field, we also fix or replace teeth that get loosened or knocked out. Often, a loose tooth can be saved by splinting or reimplanting it.

“Dr. Nguyen is the best! When he was numbing my gum, I couldn’t feel the needle because his hand was very steady. I always felt the pain with other dentists.”
